My last layout for Sketches In Thyme.

This is my last layout for the  Sketches In Thyme team as a DT. I love Sketches In Thyme and enjoyed my time there so much.  The ladies there are fantastic.  Thank you Kim for believing in me.  The sketch is by Brenshevia and I had so much fun creating with it.  My granddaughter is so beautiful and I love to document her accomplishments. I used a kit I have been hoarding for a while now. It is from Pink Fresh Studio and Pink Paisley and also Crate Paper.  I love all the girly stuff in these papers.

Here is the sketch from Brenshevia.

Summertime

I loved this photo of my kids so thought it would be a good pic for Laura Whitaker’s new layout over at Stuck Sketches.  Here is my interpretation of that sketch.
It's a great sketch.

German Chocolate Cheesecake

German Chocolate Cheesecake Cake
1 - German chocolate cake mix (prefer Duncan Hines)
+  eggs, oil & water called for on box mix

Cream Cheese Filling:
2 - 8 ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 - cups granulated sugar
4 - eggs, lightly beaten

Coconut Pecan Icing:
1 - cup sugar
1 - cup evaporated milk
1 - stick (1/2 - cup) real butter, cubed
3 - egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 - teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 - cups flaked coconut
1-1/2 - cup chopped pecans

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Prepare the cake batter according to package directions (adding eggs, oil and water) for a 9 x 13 inch cake, set aside.

In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Pour half of the German chocolate cake batter into a greased and floured. 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.

Gently pour cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter (spread to the edge). Gently pour the remaining cake batter over the top of the cream cheese mixture and spread to the edge of the pan using an offset spatula.
Bake cake at 325° for 70-75 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack for 1 hour.

To make the coconut pecan icing . In a heavy medium size saucepan, combine the sugar, milk, butter and egg yolks.

Cook and stir over medium-low heat until the mixture starts to thicken and coat the back of a spoon (and a candy thermometer reads 160°).

Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in vanilla extract. Fold in coconut and pecans.

Cool until icing reaches spreading consistency and then frost cooled cake. Refrigerate cake at least 4-6 hours before serving.

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

Serving: 14-16

November Layout For Sketches In Thyme

I used my CTMH paper pack "Falling For You" for this layout.  The picture was taken on our anniversary and seemed like the perfect paper and colors for the picture. I tried to stay pretty close to the sketch but only had one picture for the layout.  So here is my take on the sketch by Brenda Ragsdale.  Sketches In Thyme
Here us the sketch by Brenda Ragsdale.

October Layout for Sketches In Thyme

Good morning all.  I am up on the Sketches In Thyme blog today with my take on the sketch by Bev Code.  She has a wonderful sketch that can be used for formal pictures or for funny pictures.  What ever will work with this one.  I love the sketch and my layout too but I seem to have such a problem getting pictures with my camera that are straight on and not skewed.
I used the Jack Papers from Close To My Heart for this layout.  Love this pack and wish that it was still available.

My friend Julie did this layout for the challenge over at Sketches In Thyme.  She does not have a blog and asked me to post it for her.

September DT post for Sketches In Thyme

I am up on the Sketches In Thyme blog with my layout using the sketch by the lovely Jenessa Franco.
I used mostly older papers from CTMH.  I am also playing along with the Rediscover Your Stash round 2 over on Facebook with Khristina and Sara.  It has been so much playing along with them too. Here is my take on Jenessa's sketch. I had a great picture of a group of great scrappy friends that I just love like sisters.  Thank you my beautiful friends for allowing me to use this picture on the page.

August Layout for Sketches In Thyme

I am up on the Sketches In Thyme Blog today with a sketch by Shawn Lahr.  I used some older pictures of my granddaughter for this sketch.  I also used a chipboard circle piece by Creative Embellishments on the layout.  I used an older paper pack by Amy Tangerine called Sketchbook.
So here is my take on sketch #290.
